Behind the menu: how a new flavor gets made
From a scribble in the sketchbook to the display case, every Velvet Glaze flavor goes through the same six-week gauntlet.
By Mara OyelaranGlazed by hand since 2019
Slow-proofed brioche, real butter, and glazes made from scratch each morning. When they're gone, they're gone.

Our story
Velvet Glaze started as a weekend stall with one fryer and three flavors. Today we still make every batch by hand: brioche dough rested overnight, fried in small batches, and dipped while warm so the glaze sets like silk.

“The Rose Pistachio is the best donut I have ever eaten. The glaze shatters, the dough is pillowy, and it tastes like a garden in June.”
“Brought a box to our Monday meeting and it was gone in four minutes. People are now scheduling meetings around my Velvet Glaze runs.”
“Worth the early alarm. We got there at 7:15 and the Dark Chocolate was still warm. Friendly staff, gorgeous little shop.”
“Honey Vanilla is quietly the star — balanced, not too sweet, with real vanilla bean. Lines get long on Saturdays, so plan ahead.”
“They made a custom box for my daughter’s birthday and every single donut was perfect. The Red Velvet with cream cheese glaze won the party.”
“The brown butter seasonal special paired with their iced coffee is my new Sunday ritual. You can taste that the dough rests overnight.”
